The SM’s qualifications and attributes may include the following:
- understanding safety management principles
- a level of operational experience related to the product or service provided by the organisation
- a technical understanding of the systems that support operations or the product/service provided
- interpersonal skills
- analytical and problem-solving skills
- project management skills
- oral and written communications skills, and
- an understanding of human factors.
